specializing in services to churches and ministers since 1978.png

Burbrink Financial Services, L.L.C., began in 1978 as a ministry to assist church treasurers, ministers and financial leaders to comply with tax regulations and at the same time to be good stewards of the Lord’s money, so that no unnecessary taxes are paid by the church or the minister.

Specializing in tax preparation, payroll process, and accounting services, Burbrink Financial understands every church, organization and minister is different. We tailor our services to fit the needs of our clients and provide professional services to suit each situation.

We serve over two hundred ministerial tax clients in over twenty-five states, more than seventy church & non-profit payroll clients, as well as provide customized accounting services to fifteen Christian organizations.

Due to the complexity of tax laws, the ministry of church leadership can be truly burdensome. Our mission is to serve the Kingdom through the preparation of tax returns for ministers and by providing clear, accurate tax and financial information through payroll and accounting services to churches and non-profit organizations.

As senior partner of Burbrink Financial Services, Karen Isaacs considers it a blessing to look back over her journey to this point. She graduated from KCC School of Business with a degree in Business Administration and a focus on accounting after learning early-on she had a knack and love for accounting. Entrepreneurship was in her veins, but not something she had considered as a dream of her own until later in life.

Shortly after graduation, she was given the opportunity to step into tax preparation when her father - Tom Burbrink - was called into full- time preaching ministry. Although, the business was growing, God placed a new calling on her life a few years later and Burbrink Tax Service was transitioned to Cox Burbrink Tax Service under the ownership of Karen Cox. This allowed her to step through the door God opened working for her Alma mater - now KCU. Her time there afforded her 9 years of friendships, lessons and blessings in preparation for the next big faith step.

In 2010 she left KCU to once again work under the Burbrink name - this time alongside Tom! In a natural progression of growth, she came to lead Burbrink Financial Services in 2015. To this day, the business continues to grow and serve ministers, churches and mission groups in their various financial needs. Throughout this journey, she and her husband of 36 years have watched their family of 4 blossom into a family of 10 with the addition of a son-in-law, daughter-in-law and 4 grandchildren.

Growing up in a small town in northern KY, Kim Robinette was influenced by many strong Christian women in her life. Her mother raised three children and worked full-time as the manager of a lumber company during a time when a woman in this position was rare. Working alongside her mother, as a payroll clerk and bookkeeper for the sawmill, Kim developed her basic financial skills. In 1982 she attended Kentucky Christian University, as a married student, where her business background attained her a part-time position working for Tom Burbrink…..little did she realize then that God was laying the foundation for future blessings she could have only imagined. Kim would leave KCU in 1986 to pursue life & career, raising a family and acquiring experience in many different business pursuits as well as the adversities of life.

In 1997 God brought Kim full-circle back to KCU, where she began 19 years of Christian service to the University working in multiple positions including Telcom Office Manager, Student Services Administrative Assistant, and Executive Secretary to the President & Board of Trustees. It was during these years when Karen and Kim became close friends and colleagues...continuing her friendship with the Burbrink family.

God’s plan and timing for our lives is always perfect….as Kim would soon realize when a door opened for her to join the Burbrink family business in 2013…..building on the foundation established nearly 30 years prior. As the business grew, she became a full-time junior partner of Burbrink Financial Services, LLC in 2018 and has been blessed to be a part of this growing ministry, serving churches and Christian non-profit organizations.

Kim and her husband, Rick, are blessed with three daughters & sons-in-law and four grandsons.

Karen Cox, owner of Cox Burbrink Tax Service, works alongside Burbrink Financial Services. She graduated from Milligan College (now University) with a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting. After graduation, she worked for the phone company in Lexington, KY and attended Broadway Christian Church, where she met and married her husband, Tom Cox. Tom was called into the ministry and Karen began her path as a preacher’s wife. Moving through several ministries in south-central Kentucky and Indiana, she worked various jobs including working as an accounting assistant at a CPA firm. In 2011, at the North American Christian Convention in Cincinnati,Ohio, Tom Burbrink asked if she would like to buy a tax business, and having just moved back to her husband’s home town of Vanceburg, KY, she jumped at the chance! Although Karen has always served beside her husband in his full-time ministries, she also regards her business a ministry, specializing in tax and financial planning assistance for ministers and missionaries. She has seen God’s blessings as the business has expanded from 140 clients to over 200. People often confuse her with Tom Burbrink’s daughter, Karen Isaacs…..to which Karen C. replies, “I don’t mind the confusion; we are both working together to help our clients.”
